After the incendiary and attention grabbing single “Adore”, SIR-VERE continue their teasing of their forthcoming album ‘ROCKtronicS’ with a double A-side EP, ‘Rebound // IGGY’. The new release is available now through Worldsound/Virgin and is a potent two-track dose of their already established brand of genre-blurring industrial, synth-pop and dirty indie dance. With ‘Rebound // IGGY’, SIR-VERE prove that not only is the forthcoming album still to come but the band have even more power and polish to come.

The first of the two new releases is “Rebound”, the more radio friendly of the two songs. Blending sparkling synths, punchy beats and a big dollop of industrial grit, the song takes an interesting step back to channel the classic structure of some of Depeche Mode’s earlier works. It’s then filtered through a big shine of gloss to make it ultra fresh. Vocally, Craig White is pure and candid as he reflects on the odd space that we find ourselves in when we move from the love for one person to the love for the next. “It’s about the in-between period of bouncing from relationship to relationship but still finding yourself loving them all the same”, he says about the song, which comes through in both the music and in his lyrics. The track’s melody stomps with a self-assured strut that would work just as well on the club floor as it does on alt-pop radio.
The flipside, “IGGY”, is rawer and more live-in-the-room-feel. Blending an indie-dance groove with rumbling drums and a swaggering bassline, the song takes an interesting look at one of the most seminal artists in the pop world. Although not the spitting image of the original Iggy Pop, “IGGY” was created as a strong tip of the hat to the King of Rock n Roll himself. It carries that inimitable swagger and runs with it to fashion this live, dirty and carefree sound. Remixes will be coming in the near future, with the EP receiving a battery of electronic twists via remixers Vodzilla, Prefix Sum and Mind Of Us. But even on its own, ‘Rebound // IGGY’ makes clear the fact that SIR-VERE aren’t just teasing us with ‘ROCKtronicS’, they’re lighting the fuse.
