Neodym’s latest single “Let My Love In” does just that. I was already drawn to the production, which is crisp and spacious, with just the right amount of atmosphere. The synth work has a lot of dimension and the beat keeps an even pace. Then I heard her voice, and everything clicked. There’s an intimacy in the way Neodym delivers her vocals, as if she’s singing directly to you. The lyrics are all about vulnerability, about allowing someone into your heart, even when you’re not sure if you should. You can hear the hesitancy in her voice, the longing, the bravery. It’s really special.

Producer Sven Kuhlmann has created an electro soundscape that perfectly suits the emotion of the lyrics. The beat is deliberate and danceable, with a bass that resonates without overpowering. There are layers of synth effects that weave in and out, punctuating the track at just the right moments. The result is a track that is emotive but never overwrought, sexy without ever being seedy. It’s a song that would be just as much at home on the darker end of the club sound system as it would on a long night drive with the windows down. There’s a spaciousness to it that allows the listener some room to sit with the lyrics, while still maintaining a compelling groove.

What makes “Let My Love In” so special, though, is Neodym herself. She’s an artist that clearly has something to say, and isn’t afraid to say it. In an industry that often rewards a certain type of artificiality, it’s refreshing to hear someone that’s just unapologetically herself. She’s got a powerful voice, both literally and figuratively, and it’s clear she’s going to be using it to make some noise in the music world. With several shows and an album in the works, Neodym is definitely one to watch. But for now, she’s given us a song that’s going to be on repeat for a while.
